Lucky VS Corporate America............

So last year, through pain-staking work and my annoying habit of making sure I am always seen by whomever I need a favor from, I became the proud owner of www.LuckysinLove.com............since then, I've been posting and alerting you all on the wonderful goings ons in the fashion world......have you tried to google the site lately?.........EXACTLY......

The sad thing is that I am typing this and I know you won't be able to read it......ARRRRRGHHHH!

BoNkErS.................A Great Cartoon That Just Went Too Early...sob..

Every now and then, I think about what today's kids are missing......and I think back to a childhood of playing tag, man-hunt and cartoons that were....funny...anyway, heeeeeere's BONKERS!

MCM..........Don't Call It A Comeback

During its eighties heyday, MCM's logo-branded merch had a Vuitton-like appeal, at least among rappers, many of whom wore bootleg clothing emblazoned with the symbol (Eric B and Just-Ice come to mind). MCM lost its cachet here during the late nineties and early 2000s, but after a series of recent store launches in Asia (and a restoration of hip-hop's favor), it's poised for a comeback....even though I ask you not to call it that...

Fashon Alert...................Vein Wear.....I Got Nothing (Sorry)...

I usually come up with something catchy or whimsy in order to introduce a brand, but when they do such a great job........who am I to mess with genius? Words taken Directly from their website:

"The term “designer” is often
used loosely in the shoes, mens shoes, mens fashion industry, and certainly so by a
number of factories mass
producing male footwear that
copy the fashion leaders.
Vein does it differently. How
you’d expect true designer shoes to be created for you.
Each original design is sketched,
first as a conceptual, and then
worked and re-worked into final
drawings with graphite on paper.
Then, prototype dress shoes are
meticulously crafted. Drawn by
hand, made by hand."

Now that's creative.....enjoy!

Correction- ABC

As you all know, LuckysinLove embraces individuality, and nothing screams that more than THINKING (which seems to be a rare art)....Raquel Carter, a great thinker in my opinion has agreed to share her thoughts with LuckysinLove. I'm always impressed with the diversity of her thoughts.....enjoy!

"In recent news a broadcaster who was summarizing the election on ABC news stated the massive amount of emails that Obama's team had produced, as well as pages on facebook, and myspace that have accumulated millions of supporters and fans. They used all of this information to surmize that Obama won directly because "more people are using the internet". Well, ABC... Im quite sure that McCain had the same opportunity to publicize his candidacy. Being a democratic network, I was surprized to hear such a statement coming from ABC. Due to the syntax and overall story, it was said with no means of harm or bias. However, you can't just allow misinformation floating around about the correlation between "internet users" to the winning of government officials in a Presidential election, thats just absurd! Would it be fair to say that McCain lost then, because he doesnt know how to use a compter? No! So why would Obama swin soley on the amount of internet users? Did McCain not have the same opportunity? The same internet users that voted last election, and with continue voting the next.

Anyhoo... those are my two cents."

Merz- Lotus............sob at the Creativity....SiCkNeSs!

A great song by an incredible artist. It took me a while to get this video, but if you listen to the words as you watch it......timeless. If you still can't get it, here are the lyrics that helped me:

"we sit in cars
we sit in planes
you're dead right
for me

you're dead right
you're always right
you're on the right
side of me"

Fashion Update.................Nelli by Janice Jaraicie....Me Likes!

What I love about this brand is how it seems to fit on the model. Some of you are probably wondering what I mean.....well, this is a brand and style that seems to work well for the fully figured woman....the active woman....the ball player...the track and field star....The model is definately toned, and her shoulders show you that she stays active....yet the clothing sit so perfectly on her that her activity is not seen up front....just beauty lined with beautiful clothing.
But don't think Nelli is only for the active woman, because their website caters to all women and shows a sophistication and simplicity through color.....enjoy!

Check out the Fall collection byNELLI

Taken from Nelli's website:

"Born in Hong Kong, raised in both Saudi Arabia and Montreal, Canada, and having established the successful Nelli clothing line while living in San Diego, California; Janice Jaraicie’s dynamic make up has guided her creativity to be translated in the clothing she designs. Inspired by the classic elegance of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, and ingenuity of modern day divas Betsy Johnson and Carolina Herrera; Janice Jaraicie crafts with the feminine, confident, graceful woman in mind. A love for world travel, music, sports cars, and the ability to speak four languages, this glamour girl lives life to the fullest and has a talent that demands the attention of the fashion world. Quality natural fabrics such as silk, cotton, and wool blends are used to create the quality that allow for each piece to contour the female body; the epitome of comfort and style. Fashion trends are merely guidelines; individual taste for simplicity, sophistication, and style embody the elements of what is Nelli by Janice Jaraicie."

The Joker.............First Person To Make It Rain.....Lisssstennn (Forgive Me For That)

I love being me.....seriously....the fact that I have this sleeping disorder, and I can write for hours and think non-stop without any need for rest leads to quirky post like this one......enjoy the video, the point I am trying to make and the Prince track that hasn't been pulled off of the net (yet)....late!

Check out the full poster by clicking
HERE

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, 2008 from 11am to 7pm
BETA Spaces is a day of multi-disciplinary group art shows, which encourages artists to transform the private and public spaces of Bushwick into exhibition spaces: living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, studios, streets, subways, sidewalks, and gardens. The festival will take place within a 10-block triangle south of Johnson Street, east of Bushwick Avenue, and west of Jefferson Avenue. The compact geographic nature of the festival is designed to provide the public an unbeatable opportunity to visit dozens of venues and experience hundreds of artists within a short period of time. (In comparison, our annual Bushwick Open Studios Festival (BOS) usually features 100+ locations spread geographically across 3 square miles!)

Make A Difference.....................With Style!

As you should know by now, I am a strong supporter of change and bettering not just our communities, but the world......It's always a great feeling to find other brands and companies with similar interest...."Designer Jamie Lim has found a way to combine two of ’08’s big themes, social enterprise and large specs, with her creation of the sustainable sunglasses company KAYU" josh spear. The great thing is that each pair sold pays for sight-restoring surgery in Ghana and India through Unite for Sight........pure SICKNESS!

Taken from KAYUs website:

OUR CAUSE

ONE PAIR OF GLASSES = ONE SIGHT-RESTORING SURGERY

"80% of blindness is curable or preventable, yet 36 million are needlessly blind. Avoidable blindness is most common in the poorest of the poor, and has far-reaching implications that touch on all aspects of human development - social, economic and quality of life. Eliminating preventable blindness is one of the world's most urgent problems and one that persists due to a lack of funds.

At KAYU, we believe that no person should remain blind if they don't have to. That's why KAYU collaborates with Unite for Sight, Inc. (www.uniteforsight.org) in promoting the elimination of preventable blindness by contributing $50.00 for each pair of glassses we sell. So -

FOR EVERY PAIR OF GLASSES PURCHASED, KAYU WILL DONATE $50 TO FUND ONE SIGHT-RESTORING SURGERY IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD.

One pair of glasses = One sight-restoring surgery. Make a difference, give the gift of sight."

Insa Heels: Its Like "Sex In The City" meets "Beat Street"........I Like That One...

"The brand new line of London-based, limited-edition designs is the perfect marriage of sexy and edgy. The first collection consists of just three patterns, each printed onto the leather of round-toe, ten-centimeter stilettos then finished with a high gloss"......trust me, if you're a sneakerhead, you definately understand.

"INSA's world is one where fetishism, desire and graffiti collide; through extensive street level work and fine art INSA has taken the iconic high heel image and made it his own, infusing a simple, yet clever, graphic 'logo' with meaning and relevance. High heels represent a myriad of different things to different people; sex, money, fashion, the battle between masculine and feminine sexuality, dominant and submissive, consumerism and object fetishism; all of which are themes actively explored in INSA's work. Heels themselves are often, of course, objects of desire and objets d'art in their own right"....I get turned on just reading this...

The fantasy of 'INSA HEELS' is now a reality...

What I'm buggin out on is the shere brilliance of combining femme-chic with "graph"....Pure SICKNESS!

Well this one is a real treat....Art that shows your originality and helps you express "you"! Anyone who can show me "monkey art" is cool with me......enjoy!

Fashion Alert: Ingwa; Melero..................."My Chick Burnin down Bergdorf"

CHECK OUT THE COLLECTION HERE

Ingwa; Melero is crafted by the design team of Nike Ingwa Clausing and Tina Hernaiz Melero. Nike and Tina’s love of design began as childhood friends in a small town in Germany. Inspired by their mothers’ handcrafting books from the 70’s, they began making their own clothes at an early age. Soon, their hobby became obsession and they spent all of their free time designing outfits for themselves and their friends.

Nike’s passion led her to study tailoring at an haute couture house in Hamburg, Germany. She then went on to receive a degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Tina also pursued her dream, receiving a master’s degree in graphic design from Fachhoch-schule in Duesseldorf, Germany. The draw of the New York fashion scene soon took hold of both Nike and Tina, leading them to move to NYC permanently in 2001, where they founded Ingwa; Melero.

Ingwa; Melero’s incorporation of traditional handcrafting techniques, with fitted feminine silhouettes, continues to capture attention of the New York fashion scene, as well as the rest of the nation. Ingwa; Melero can currently be found at Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman and numerous specialty boutiques in New York, Los Angeles and around the country....

And you thought I lost my wit and banter.......Well today lovely people, I like to show you one of the most interesting, thought out concepts missing in fashion....."creative head-wear"...There was a time when a woman (and men as well), were seen as distinguished with the proper hat. Women wore hats not just for Church or Funerals, but because it complimented the outfit and it made them look BAD (in the good way)....So today, I bring you Claudia Schulz....

"Claudia Schulz grew up in Berlin, Germany and moved to Vancouver, Canada in 1999. Her hat designs are inspired by European 1920’s and 1930’s styles. Each of Claudia’s pieces are uniquely designed based upon classic minimalist design principles showing simple lines, striking colours and refined accent details, creating a wearable, modern-urban hats"....(shouts to SD)...Enjoy the pics below:
