Converse/ Dr. Romanelli - 1HUND(RED) Chuck Taylor.....Work Of Art!
In part of the PROJECT(RED), created by U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver to address the growing epidemic of AIDS/HIV in Africa, Converse launched a new initiative to both benefit the project and the commemoration to Converse’s 100th anniversary. The initiative, Converse 1HUND(RED), will see 100 new interpretations of the classic sneaker by 100 chosen artists/designers. Among them is design by the L.A.-based Dr. Romanelli. Part artist, part designer, the self taught Darren Romanelli’s unique re-interpretations of each project, the combination of hard to find vintage pieces along with updated silhouettes, in addition to his attention to details, granted him a reputation of a mad genius at work, hence the title “Dr”.
For the Converse 1HUND(RED), Dr. Romanelli covered the Chuck Taylor in a pattern of antiquated bandages, each with functional perforations. The clear sole exposed an imprint of human skull diagram on the bottom. While the interior is imprinted with graphics of a human dissection, copied directly from a medical textbook. The Converse x Dr. Romanelli - Chuck Taylor All-Star for Converse 1HUND(RED) is currently availableHERE
"The four-leaf clover is an uncommon variation of the common three-leaf clover. According to superstition, such leaves bring good luck to their finders, especially if found accidentally.
Clovers can have more than four leaflets. The most leaflets ever recorded is eighteen. It has been estimated that there are approximately 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every four-leaf clover.
According to legend, each leaflet represents something: the first is for hope, the second is for faith, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck."
